Search using terms like “work at home”, “work from home”, “telecommute”, “virtual” and “online” to find jobs that are all done from home, or based from home.

1.) American Express

The financial services company hires telecommuters for a number of positions including travel counselor and customer service representative.  Full benefits including medical and 401(k) are offered to regular employees.

2.) Hilton

The hotel chain hires reservation agents, mainly in the Texas and Florida markets.  Benefits include reduced hotel rates for the employee and their family across several Hilton properties.

3.) Amazon

America’s largest e-commerce retailer hires in a number of state for Customer Service Associates.  Hiring often occurs right before the holiday season, with agents having the opportunity to work year ’round thereafter.   Expect Amazon to continue to expand in the next few years as they begin to offer same day delivery in major markets.

5.) Discover Card

The company offers an active work at home program for veterans and their spouses, primarily in the Dover, Delaware market.  Other sales positions are based from home but may require travel.

6.) Apple

The maker of the iPhone, iPad and Mac computer is a huge proponent of telecommuting.  Most positions involve supporting Apple products and services via chat or telephone.   Postions are usually available in multiple markets, and both full and part time hours are offered.

7.) Enterprise Rental

The car rental company is another big proponent of an at-home workforce.   Reservation and Escalation agents can work from home in more than 30 major cities across the United States, and the company offers a full benefits package.  Nights and weekends are generally required as the company is a 24/7 operation.

The credit card company recently rolled out an “Anytown” section on their job board, showing potential employees all of their work at home options.  State restrictions do apply though, as the company is primarily hiring in Florida, Virginia and Delaware.
